This lively and fun poster advertising a comic was one of several in the studio. This example dates from the early 20th century and has a straw and/or wood-based content, (fiber furnish). Historical knowledge about paper production of this era, visible fibres in the paper and their current, typically brittle and discoloured condition, provided the clues.
As the client wished the posters to be mounted, minimal repairs, (leaving original pin holes intact) and infills of areas of loss were carried out, followed by mounting to full conservation-grade specifications.
